
Cougar Esports at Camden County College
Camden County College’s new Cougar Esports program gives College and local community members the opportunity to play video games competitively while providing dedicated career pathways in esports-related fields. The popularity of professional esports is now surging, and today millions of followers are watching esports events on live, streaming platforms. Cougar Esports is excited to support these efforts and help prepare our students for the esports jobs of tomorrow, today!
Cougar Esports Arena
Competitions are underway in the Cougar Esports Arena at the William G. Rohrer Center in Cherry Hill. The state-of-the-art esports facility combines student engagement in collegiate esports programming with career exploration and development. The arena is located on the 2nd floor, and is visible from the foyer as you enter the building. Overlooking the intersection of Route 70 and Springdale Road in Cherry Hill, the 1600-square-foot Cougar Esports Arena features:
- A welcome desk to check players in before entering.
- A raised competition stage and an opening gaming area for general usage.
- 22 high-performance gaming PCs with streaming broadcast capabilities.
- Comfortable competition chairs.
- A fully equipped broadcast area and an esports anchor desk that integrate multiple camera views and microphones for student “shoutcasters” to provide live play-by-play entertainment during matches.
Cougar Esports Career Pathways
CCC offers the only Esports Production degree in the Philadelphia region, preparing students for the jobs of tomorrow in the esports and gaming industry while developing production skills in esports. Graduates will understand the sales, marketing and economic aspects of the gaming and esports industries and also discuss social and other contemporary issues in esports and gaming.
Cougar Esports Team
Cougar Esports is already dominating the digital arena with three national titles! With over 60 team members currently, CCC has fielded collegiate teams in both the NACE and NJCAAe esports leagues. Teams practice, strategize and compete in the new Cougar Esports Arena and much like traditional athletes, players are supported with coaches and development programs. Notable matches have been played against Cornell, Drexel, West Virginia, U. of Miami, Stockton, Cal State, and Florida State with teams in Rocket League, Valorant, Madden NFL, League of Legends, Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, Apex Legends, Counter-Strike, NBA 2K, Overwatch, Call of Duty, and many more!
